Breed Specialists
Minimum of five years proven interest in
pedigree dogs
Attend a requirements of a dog show judge
seminar (but not mandatory to take and pass examination)
Attend a conformation and movement seminar
Complete a
minimum of two full-day stewarding appointments
‘B’ List (Breed Specialists)
Minimum
of 5 years owning and/or exhibiting experience in Shetland Sheepdogs and
have the support of the ESSC
To have
judged a minimum of 60 Shetland Sheepdogs actually present at Open Shows.
And/Or to have achieved JEP Level 2 requirements (see below)
‘B’ List (JEP
Level 2 Non-Breed Specialists)
Take and pass requirements of a dog show
judge examination
Pass points of a dog assessment
Attend a breed appreciation day (BAD) and
pass a multiple-choice examination (MCE) for Shetland Sheepdogs
View ring stewarding seminar and take
online quiz
Complete critique writing seminar and take
online quiz
‘A3’ List (TOJS Requirements)
Breed Specialists
To have at least seven years judging experience in the Breed
and have the support of the ESSC.
To have judged at one Shetland Sheepdog
Breed Club Open Show or three Shetland Sheepdog Breed Club Supported
Shows.
To have judged the Breed with a minimum of
120 dogs present, to include the
above
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3
dogs in the Breed when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club
Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances) *
To have attended a seminar given by a KC
Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations
& Judging Procedures. *
To have attended a “Points of the Dog Assessment” conducted by a KC Accredited Trainer and
passed the assessment. *
To have attended a seminar given by a KC
Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. *
To have attended at least one Shetland
Sheepdog Breed Club judging seminar run in accordance with the the
relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination
and/or A3 assessment by a Shetland Sheepdog Breed Club.
To have stewarded over a minimum of 12
days for any breed(s) at KC Licenced Shows (excluding Companion Shows). *

Non-Breed Specialists
To have at least ten years judging experience
in any one other breed and including seven years judging experience in
Shetland Sheepdogs and have the support of the ESSC.
To have judged at one Shetland Sheepdog
Breed Club Open Show or three Shetland Sheepdog Breed Club Supported
Shows.
To have judged the Breed with a minimum of
120 dogs present, to include the
above.
To have awarded CCs in at least one other
breed in the Pastoral or Working Groups.
To have attended at least one Shetland
Sheepdog Breed Club judging seminar run in accordance with the the
relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination
and/or A3 assessment by a Shetland Sheepdog Breed Club.
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs in any breed when
they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in
exceptional circumstances) *

OR
‘A3’ List (JEP Level 3)
Undergo a minimum of three mentoring
sessions with a minimum of 12 months between first and third sessions
Be observed judging a Shetland Sheepdog breed club show,
breed supported entry show or championship show without CCs
Complete remaining 10 full-day stewarding
appointments (one-time qualification)
Have owned/bred a minimum of three dogs
when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book – save
in exceptional circumstances (one-time qualification for first breed in
which a judge awards CCs)
Have achieved the relevant hands-on
experience in line with the stated requirements for the relevant stud
book band, ie Band E – 60 dogs
Attend and passed a breed-specific
assessment for Shetland Sheepdogs run by The Kennel Club
‘A2’ List
For persons who fulfil all the
requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance
with KC requirements and have been accepted by the KC for inclusion on
an A2 list and have the support of the ESSC.
‘A1’ List
For persons who fulfil all the
requirements for the A3 list and who are approved by the Kennel Club to
award CCs in the breed.
