The Club will be holding an eye testing
session at our Championship Show on Saturday, 14 October 2017 with BVA
panellist, John Goodyear BVM&S CertVOphthal MRCVS. The cost per dog will
be £40, or for dogs of 8 years or over £34, provided that a minimum of
25 dogs participate in the eye testing session. You will need to bring
each dog’s registration papers to the session, and it should also have
some form of permanent identification, e.g. microchip. Any dogs to be
tested which are not entered into the show must be entered Not For
Competition by the closing date for entries – NFC entries are FREE at
this show.
As advised in previous communications, the
Club wishes to improve the quality of the data available on GPRA in
Shetland Sheepdogs, and to this end the Club will subsidise BVA/KC eye
tests carried out at the show on the following basis:
Reimbursement will be made on receipt of:
-
A copy of the eye certificate
-
Provision of a DNA sample by cheek
swab from dogs of 8 years of age or over, whether or not the eye
examination is positive for GPRA.
DNA testing for MDR1 & CEA/CH will also be
available. See the form below for more details.
If you wish to book an eye test for your
