The Club is delighted to announce the inaugural winner the Jenny Martin Memorial Trophy as Melissa Graham-Weal. This trophy was presented at the Club’s AGM to the top winning Junior Handler from points gained at Junior handling classes at our two open shows and one championship show, starting at our championship show in October each year.
Points are be awarded as follows: 5 points for a 1st place, 4 points for a 2nd place, 3 points for a 3rd place, 2 points for a 4th place and 1 point for a 5th place. 1 extra point will be awarded to the best Junior Handler on the day.
Junior handlers must be members of the ESSC and do not need to be registered with the JHA at the Kennel Club to take part, but all dogs handled must be entered and exhibited at the show.

New Junior Handling Trophy

GDPR - 25 May 2018

In order to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) May 2018, the Club has published its Privacy Policy which can be found here. Members who have not completed and returned the form to confirm their acceptance to receive Club mailings, should do so as soon as possible. If you have mislaid your form you can request one from the Secretary, or download one here.

Change of name for the Contingency Fund - 26 June 2016

With immediate effect the ESSC Contingency Fund will be known as ESSC Welfare & Rescue. A full Constitution has been agreed and is available here. Further information about Welfare & Rescue can be found here.

General Code of Ethics - 26 June 2016

With immediate effect the Club has amended its Code of Ethics. This change has been approved by the Kennel Club. The revised Code of Ethics can be found here


Subscriptions

With effect from 1 January 2016, membership subscriptions have been increased. single membership is £10.00, Joint membership is £12.50 (£14.00 for three members living at the same address). If you are a single member over the age of sixty you will pay the senior rate of £8.50 but two senior members living at the same address still pay joint membership of £12.50.

Summer Open Show & Centenary Celebrations

On 7 June 2014 we turned back the clock to June 1914 and members participated in dressing-up for the spirit of the occasion.

The day started with our Summer Open Show with special prize cards for winners. Best in Show was awarded a special prize.

During the afternoon there were:

Stalls hosted by Branches & the Working Section with stallholders will be dressed in appropriate 1914 costumes
Display of Dancing with Dogs (Shelties of course)
Parade of Champions
Special Raffle & Centenary Raffle (£100 prize)
Judging of stalls and best dressed member by our guest of honour, Ferelith Summerfield. The prize for best stall went to the East Midlands Branch, with the Midlands Branch, the runner-up. The prize for the best dressed member went to Cheryl Lockett, with Mr Westermann, the runner-up.

The Working Section arranged Good Citizen tests and “Come and Try it” Agility during the day.
At the conclusion of the event, Ferelith cut the Centenary cake and we had a toast to the Club

Eye testing session at the 2012 Championship Show

The eye testing session at our Championship Show was arranged primarily to ascertain the incidence of General Progressive Retinal Atrophy (GPRA) in the Breed in the UK. 52 dogs over the age of three years (the majority, over five years old) were tested and no cases of GPRA were discovered.

General Code of Ethics - 11 November 2012

Breed Standard

With effect from 1 March 2012, the Kennel Club has made some changes to the introductory paragraph of all breed standards. The revised standard can be found here

Breed Standard

With effect from 1 June 2010, the Kennel Club has agreed to revise the metric size of Bitches to 35.5 cm. The revised standard can be found here

General Code of Ethics
